Conference on Early Chinese Thinkers and Warfare Ethics (2014/12/12-13)

The Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology is committed to integrate the scholarly heritages of East and West, pursuing innovative research in the study of traditional Chinese civilization, and aiming to achieve a systematic redefinition of traditional Chinese values relevant to modern times. Co-organized by the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology and the Centre for Applied Ethics, the Conference on Early Chinese Thinkers and Warfare Ethics was held on 12-13 December 2014. The goal of the conference was to rethink warfare ethics with the interpretation and construction of traditional Chinese culture. More than 10 eminent experts and scholars from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan and Japan made contributions to the conference, including Prof. Zhu Xiaohung from China People’s Liberation Army Xi’an Institute of Politics, and Prof. Yuasa Kunihiro from Osaka University.

The papers presented at the forum have been published as the Collected Essays on Pre-Qin Philosophers and War Ethics, Volume 2 of the series Library of Classical Learning by the Academy in 2016.
