The reputation of the Academy depends on the cultivation of promising young scholars to be leading researchers of the next generation. Following the model of Professor Jao Tsung-i, students in the XuanTang Ph.D. Programmes and M.Phil. Programmes are pursuing research in a variety of fields related to traditional Chinese culture, using groundbreaking research methods and comparative approaches.

In the field of scholarship, each new generation builds its achievements on those of the previous generation. With the guidance and inspiration of Professor Jao, the Academy aims to foster scholars who will be as widely learned as Master Jao, whose profound knowledge of literature, history, and art was founded ultimately in his cosmopolitan worldview.
