“Archaeology, Artifacts and Art” Cloud Lecture Series “Archaeology, Artifacts and Art” Cloud Lecture Series

Sponsored by Simon Suen Foundation, the “Archaeology, Artifacts and Art” Cloud Lecture Series will be held from November 2022 to August 2023. The Academy will curate a series of lectures on archaeology, history, artifacts and art in collaboration with experts and scholars locally and abroad, including esteemed researchers art collectors as well as connoisseurs. With the splendor of the pantheon, we endeavor to embark on a journey of discovery with international academics and students from different backgrounds.

Second Lecture: The Great Imperial Kiln Site and Contemporary Digital Art

Abstract: Based on a brief introduction to the great imperial kiln site and its culture, taking the special exhibition “The World of the Imperial Kiln: The Secret Realm of Blue and White Porcelain” as an example, this lecture will discuss the application value and significance of contemporary art and digital technology in the display of the great archaeological site.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Weng Yanjun, Director of Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum and Jingdezhen Ceramic Archaeological Research Institute. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Archaeology from the Peking University, and he was the postdoctoral visiting scholar at the University of California - Los Angeles. He is the executive director of the archeological teams such as the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Factory site and the Luomaqiao Imperial Kiln site, etc. He is the curator of the Imperial Kiln culture special exhibition. He had undertaken archeological investigations regarding the legacy of ancient Chinese ceramic trade in Philippine and Americas. He had published many academic articles on first-class journals both locally and internationally. He had also authored a monograph and a translation. Last but not least, he has presided over a number of National Social Science Fund projects and Provincial and Ministerial Level projects.

景德鎮御窯博物院院長翁彥俊博士以「御窯考古與當代藝術」為題,從御窯大遺址的考古與保護、御窯文化深挖掘的實踐與思考及青花秘境特展三方面概述御窯大遺址歷史源流及數位文化應用。

首先,翁院長以「景德鎮微型圖」簡述御窯大遺址的考古發挖歷程,並詳述御窯之歷史源流。通過「景德鎮微型圖」可見出南河、東河為景德鎮瓷業的發源地,御窯更是景德鎮之代表,在明清時期景德鎮御窯廠可謂獨領風騷,制作了很多供皇室使用的瓷器精品。而在御窯大遺址考古歷程中,最重要的發現為瓷器坑及景德鎮西圍牆外跨時代的歷史遺址。同時,翁院長述及在考古過程中最重要為訊息採集工作,每挖掘一遺址均須做數位掃描,記錄相關考古訊息,如此則能更全面保護考古出土文物。

復次,翁院長分享有關御窯文化深挖掘的實踐與思考,認為通過申報世界遺產,有助保護及推廣御窯大遺址。而在推廣御窯大遺址方面,翁院長述及近年御窯大遺址文化區積極與世界海內外博物館及國家合作,如與法國吉美博物館合作,把葡萄牙里斯本桑托斯宮瓷廳穹頂數字化虛擬再現裝置放於御窯大遺址文化區中展出,讓參觀者認識御窯大遺址與海外瓷器文化之關聯。除此以外,御窯大遺址文化區更以跨界交流方式推廣御窯文化,如與不同藝術家合作,制作御窯音樂和舞蹈,使御窯文化融入大眾生活。

最後,翁院長以「御窯天下:青花秘境」特展為例,探討當代藝術和數位技術在考古大遺址展示中的應用價值和意義。是展主要以青花為載體讓世界認識御窯故事。該展主要以數字共生及跨媒介方式讓觀眾深入了解青花瓷器文化,如展覽設藝術區,把御瓷青花圖案與藝術品、時裝結合,讓青花融入藝術。同時展覽更開發了「青花秘境」小程序遊戲,讓觀眾於看展同時能透過遊戲進行互動交流。觀此可知,跨媒介及數位應用始能使藝術文化更好融入社區生活,與大眾進行互動交流,同時能更好地保護及推廣文化藝術。
