To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the Academy of Chinese, History, Religion and Philosophy (CHRP) of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences convened its second Book Launch on 5 March. Anchored in the enduring theme of "Excellence and Legacy," the event highlighted the Academy's scholarly dynamism and reflected HKBU's broader vision of delivering a liberal arts education that excels through care and global engagement.

The launch featured an impressive showcase of sixteen academic books authored by faculty members over the past year. These publications, spanning both Eastern and Western traditions, reflect a vigorous and wide-ranging research culture. In his welcome remarks, Academy Director Professor Wong Man Kong praised the members’ collective achievement as a testament to their scholarly dedication. Citing an evaluation by Stanford University's distinguished Sinologist, Professor Ronald Egan, he noted that CHRP stands on par with the finest humanities clusters in elite global universities—a recognition that affirms its past accomplishments and signals its future potential.

Beyond celebrating individual publications, the event served as a platform for trans-disciplinary exchange while revealing the uni-disciplinary foundations from the four respective disciplines. Through engaging dialogue, scholars from diverse fields explored new avenues for collaboration, transforming the notion of "legacy" from the mere transmission of knowledge into a catalyst for innovative intellectual inquiry.
