2019 is the 120th anniversary of the discovery of oracle bones and the 60th anniversary of the publication of Professor Jao Tsung-i’s monumental work Oracle Bone Diviners of the Yin Dynasty (Yindai zhenbu renwu tongkao. Hong Kong University Press, 1959). To commemorate the two occasions, the Academy has invited prominent experts on oracle bone studies to speak at a lecture series at JAS from September to November.

中央研究院歷史語言研究所兼任研究院蔡哲茂教授來我院作題為《百年來殷先公先王研究的回顧》的報告。報告從20世紀初王國維從依據甲骨文對殷人「先公先王」這一問題的探討開始,探討了自茲以降海內外學者圍繞這一問題進行的爭辯,對多種不同意見的得失進行了評價,並認為應將《史記》殷人先公序列中的「昭明」、「相土」、「昌若」、「曹圉」等剔除去,而在殷人始祖「契」與「冥」之間補上「昧」,以契合甲骨文等出土材料的記載。報告又提出甲骨文的「內證法」,並藉助這一理論對殷人先王的世係及相關的一些概念進行了梳理,其結論則在一定程度上挑戰了傳統先王世係的排列。
